I have a tendency to move slow.
Crisp has nicknamed me "Live TV"
You know, because I'm always on a delay.
(Har har har.)
It takes me longer than most people to get ready to leave the house.
"Where are my keys?"
"Where's my phone?"
"Do I have my wallet? Where is it?"
"Let me just read this real quick."
"I want a snack..."
"Do we have bottled water?"
"Did I shut off the light upstairs?"
"Ugh, where did I put the phone? I just had it."
"Wait a minute, I have to use the bathroom before we go."
Last night, we had to run errands.
In between eating dinner and leaving the house for Target,
I decided to play with Finn and work with him on his new training tricks.
Naturally, a good time for this, right?
Finn and I played fetch and practiced his
"Sit. Down. Stay. Rollover." routine
for about twenty minutes.
(Did I mention that we were supposed to go out and run errands?)
Cue Crisp's annoyance.
"Are we going to leave, or what?" he asks me.
"Oh, yes! Let's go! I just have to use the bathroom."
"Of course," he laughs as he sits on the sofa with the TV remote.
I go to the bathroom, do what I need to do, wash my hands...
I go to leave the bathroom, but...
the door won't open.
The house is old. The doorknobs are old.
The door don't open.
At all.
I turn the knob left. I turn the knob right.
I turn the knob left again. Then some more. Then more.
Then I realize I'm loosening the doorknob from the door.
Yikes!
I turn the knob right. And again, and again.
The knob stops turning...
and that door ain't opening.
Panic ensues.
Frantic shaking of the doorknob also ensues.
"Everything all right in there?" I hear from the hallway.
"HELP! I'M LOCKED IN THE BATHROOM!!!!" I screech.
Suddenly, one swift turn of the knob from the other side of the door,
and I was free.
Yup. That's it.
I accidentally locked myself in my bathroom last night.
Except that I wasn't really locked in there at all.
Happy Friday!
